Microscope with Teaching Head – These microscopes have excellent optics with four objective lenses and dual eyepieces, one having a pointer. Video camera mounts on the vertical eyepiece, while teaching eyepiece allows for fine adjustments and precise focusing. Eyepieces are interchangeable, allowing the pointer to be in the TV image if desired. These are not suitable for general student use. Supplied are microscope slides, cover slips, well slides and medicine droppers. For student use we recommend the Magiscopes class sets found elsewhere in the catalog.

Motion Detectors – Please note- this item can only be checked out with the VERNIER LABPRO KITS.  Set of 10. The Motion Detector uses ultrasound to measure distance. Ultrasonic pulses are emitted by the Motion Detector, reflected from a target, and then detected by the device. The time it takes for the reflected pulses to return is used to calculate position, velocity, and acceleration. This allows you to study the motion of objects such as a person walking, a ball in free fall, or a cart on a ramp.

NSRC/STC: Electric Circuits Kit – Lessons in the Electric Circuits Kit are organized into three major sections: (1) students focus on the basic properties of electricity, (2) investigate how various materials are affected by electricity, and they identify conductors and insulators, (3) go on to explore series and parallel circuits, switches and diodes. As you move through each section, a variety of hands-on activities will make what can be a complex subject easy to understand. Students will learn how light bulbs work by making a working filament, diagram electric circuits using symbols to represent the various parts, trace circuitry in a "hidden circuit box", and design and construct a flashlight using a switch they've made. This unit culminates with student teams designing, building, and wiring a cardboard box house. This final lesson applies what they have learned. Grade: 4

Throughout the unit, the concept that sounds are vibrations and that vibrations cause sounds is reinforced through a variety of motivational activities as students investigate pitch and loudness, observe the transmission of sound through different materials, and examine how distance affects sound.
