CASM was awarded a three year grant to increase the use of specialized hands-on equipment in science and mathematics instruction.

Science and Mathematics Teachers in Grades 3-5 (ongoing)

1. Each participating school will send 1-2 teachers to participate (teams of 2 are preferred): both teachers must teach science and/or mathematics. (Teachers in grades 4 and 5 are preferred; grade 3 will be accepted).
2. One other Professional Development day will be scheduled during the school year at EACH school. In-classroom instruction using the equipment with students will be modeled by contracted facilitators, with classroom teachers’ participation.
3. Teams at each school will agree to collaborate regarding integration of math/science in the use of the equipment.
4. Participating teachers will receive $100 stipend each.
5. Participating teachers agree to take pre and post tests regarding equipment knowledge and classroom use.
