Building a Presence for Science

The goal is to improve the teaching and learning of science from kindergarten through 12th grade. We are dedicated to the improvement of science teaching and learning.

Mission and Goals

The mission of Building a Presence for Science is to end the isolation of classroom science teachers and to provide them with professional development opportunities and science teaching resource

National Partners

The goals of the program are to:

• Identify a Point of Contact for standards-based science teaching and learning in every school;
• Establish an electronic network of science educators;
• Create an infrastructure of national and state partners who are advocates for effective science teaching and learning.

Building a Presence for Science networks are being implemented and established in the most states. Key Leaders in each state and a Point of Contact for science in every public and private school form the network. The program brings standards-based teaching and learning into schools in participating states and helps teachers implement the National Science Education Standards (NSES) in conjunction with state science standards.
